Physical Hunger and Mental Hunger

Mounjaro made physical hunger quieter, but my brain never got the memo.

One of the biggest changes I’ve noticed is that physical hunger is much quieter.

I can go surprisingly long periods without eating.

One day I had cornflakes at around 10am and didn’t eat again until about 7:30pm.

Previously, I’d have expected to be absolutely ravenous. I would probably have got home from work and searched for a snack or two to tide me over before dinner.

Instead, I simply wasn’t particularly hungry.

That is a strange experience.

But there’s another side to it.

My brain hasn’t stopped wanting things.

I’ve had evenings where I’ve finished dinner, my stomach feels completely satisfied, and my brain starts:

There’s crisps in the kitchen.

Then:

There’s chocolate.

Then:

There’s a Pepperami.

It’s not hunger.

I know it’s not hunger.

That’s the problem.

Knowing doesn’t make it easy.
