The £50 Rack-of-Lamb Experiment
A restaurant meal where being full finally won the argument against finishing the plate.
One of the biggest changes became obvious in a restaurant.
I ordered a Punjabi rack of lamb with pilau rice and naan.
It was delicious.
It was also around £50 per head including a non-alcoholic drink.
Historically, I’d probably have had a starter and then cleared the entire main course.
This time I reached the point where I was genuinely full.
My brain still said:
You could eat the rest.
It was right.
I could.
But that wasn’t the same as being hungry.
And somehow I managed to stop.
That felt significant.
Not because I’d demonstrated incredible willpower.
Quite the opposite.
For once, the physical feeling of being full was strong enough to compete with the mental arguments.
The part of my brain saying finish it was still there.
It just didn’t win.
